The creation of my art work necessitates a very strong physical connection and an element of chance...My paintingings are composed by massaging oil pastel medium with my fingers...Literally, facial features are rubbed into the paper...The composition is then misted with water allowing character marks to be formed and captured...This process is repeated over and over again until the 'true' features appear. The fusion of art techniques and the 'magic' of chance leads to the creation of these soulful faces.
The paintings displayed on the website are diminutive in their size...This invites a greater level of intimacy with the ancient icons. The sizes vary but most of the art work is about 5" X 7"...Every rendering will be available for acquisition at the ARTHOUSE 09 exhibition.
